Frequently asked questions
Do I have to be an IAEG member?
Members of IAEG national groups are given preference, and the USD 1,000 rate is for young members from low- to middle-income countries. Joining your national group before applying is a good idea.
Is financial support available?
NSEG is seeking sponsors to support participants from low-income countries. Contact the Secretariat to ask about support before you apply.
How do I get to Pokhara?
Fly into Kathmandu, then take a 35-minute domestic flight or a bus of about five hours. Detailed travel information is in the School announcement.
I can’t arrange travel or health insurance. What should I do?
Contact the School Secretariat before you arrive in Kathmandu. NSEG will help.
How physically demanding is it?
About three quarters of the School is spent outdoors on steep terrain, and the last field days are near Muktinath at roughly 3,700 m. You should be fit and aware of altitude sickness. Full safety guidelines come with the application material.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Diploma certificates are presented at the closing ceremony in Pokhara.
